Australian Financial Security Authority
The Australian Financial Security Authority (“AFSA”) is the government agency responsible for the administration and regulation of the personal insolvency system in Australia.
AFSA publish a booklet called Personal Insolvency Information for Debtors. This booklet provides important information on the different types of personal insolvency solutions available.

Department of Commerce (Fair Trading)
The Consumer Protection Division of the Department of Commerce promotes consumer protection and fair trading in Western Australia by:
- providing information and advice to consumers and traders about their rights and responsibilities;
- helping consumers resolve disputes with traders;
- investigating complaints about unfair trading practices;
- prosecuting unscrupulous traders;
- regulating and licensing some business activities; and
- developing legislation that protects consumers.

Australian Securities and Investments Commission
FIDO is the consumer website of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (“ASIC”).
The ASIC is the consumer protection regulator for financial services. In this role, the ASIC aims to protect investors, superannuants, depositors and insurance policy holders. The ASIC also regulate and enforce laws that promote honesty and fairness in financial products and services, in financial markets, and in Australian companies.
Department of the Attorney General (Law Compass)
To help guide citizens through their rights and responsibilities under Western Australian law, the Department of the Attorney General operates Law Compass. The Law Compass community gateway aims to signpost people’s way through major life events and the legal system.
